Founded in 2011, the Jiangxi Hospital of Heat-Sensitive Moxibustion is a branch of the First Affiliated Hospital of Jiangxi University of TCM (3-A). It is the only large specialized hospital of acupuncture in Jiangxi province, and the only specialized hospital of moxibustion in China.
Updated with the advanced theories of modern medicine, the hospital is always focusing on inheriting and developing the TCM culture. It promotes the endogenous medicine, which means curing diseases safely and without side-effects by fully activating the medical potential of human bodies.
The hospital is a home to the national key clinical disciplines and the key disciplines of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It has hosted the research programs of the State 973 Project (a national key development project for basic research), research programs financed by the National Natural Sciences Foundation, support programs for the 11th Five-Year Plan of the state, and Science and Technology Breakthrough Project of the Science and Technology Department of Jiangxi Province.
The hospital develops over 50 kinds of therapeutictechniquesincluding heat-sensitive moxibustion, needling, cupping, three-edged needle, acupotomy, scalp acupuncture, auricular acupuncture, vertebra acupuncture, electroacupuncture, catgut embedment at acupoint, acupoint injection, acupoint application, chiropractic, physical therapy (treatment by using infrared ray, millimeter wave, ultrashort wave, intermediate frequency, etc.), and rehabilitation therapy such as exercise therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and swallowing therapy.
Among thosetechniques, the heat-sensitive moxibustion is an originaltechniqueof the hospital with independent intellectual property. As a national and international leader in this field, it has attained a Jiangxi Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award (I) in 2007 and a Science and Technology Award (II) from China Association of Acupuncture&Moxibustion in 2008. And in 2013, the program—The Infrared Detecting Technology on Heat-sensitized Acupoint and its Clinical Application—has attained a Jiangxi Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award (I). On September 29, 2010, an event was held at the Devnet pavilion (an executive body of UNDP) of Shanghai World Expo—The Inauguration of the First Zhonghua Moxibustion Day& the Global Official Launch of Zhonghua Moxibustion. And the heat-sensitive moxibustion has become a key project of UNDP.
With the principle of "people-oriented, sincere and caring", the hospital is dedicated to offering qualified medical services to the public. And it has many originaltechniquesin treating ischemic stroke, facial paralysis, migraine, occipital neuralgia, postherpetic neuralgia, allergic rhinitis, bronchial asthma, functional dyspepsia, irritable bowel syndrome, senile constipation, chronic prostatitis, primary dysmenorrhea, chronic pelvic inflammation, knee osteoarthritis, cervical spondylosis, lumbar disc herniation, periarthritis humeroscapularis and myofascial pain syndromes.
